"Esther is always supportive and upbeat. She's always happy and she laughs at my jokes even when they're not funny. It's so great that people are recognising how hard she works. There's really no way to sugar coat it!" - Luke Jacobz ("Home and Away" colleague)

Esther Anderson keeps it in the family
She may be the hottest single on the red carpet tonight, but any suitor hoping for a Logies encounter with Home and Away hottie and Gold Logie hopeful Esther Anderson will have to get past the man on her arm - her dad. Last Sunday, Anderson marched alongside her father, World War II veteran Jack, in Melbourne's Anzac Day parade. Now she has doubled up and asked him to accompany her to the big night tonight.

Anderson split with her former boyfriend, Sea Patrol's Conrad Coleby, earlier this year but with both her parents angling for invites, there was no way the former model was going to be desperate and dateless at the Logies.

"I thought Mum would say, 'Let your dad go' or Dad would say, 'Take your mum', but they both really wanted to go, so in the end I had to make the call," Anderson says. "He was very excited about it. He was saying things like, 'I have two suits to choose between; I have a bow tie. I think he had more of a fashion crisis than I did. His shoes were polished by Tuesday, so he's sorted well before me."

Anderson suspects her father will take to the red carpet like a duck to water. "He and his fiancee go to lots of dances, so he's used to dressing up. He's quite stylish. He'll love it and be my shoulder to lean on. "I'm more likely to get starstruck than him. I get like that and can't keep my mouth shut. "Anzac Day was a time for me to be so proud of him. This week, he gets to be there for me and be proud of me. It's pretty special."

And mum Rhonda hasn't been forgotten - she's heading to the Logies after-party. "Mum took it well. She was just like 'I'm going to have to vote like crazy next year so you get nominated again'," Anderson says. "She's been the leader in the Vote for Esther campaign. She's out on the street grabbing Cats footballers saying: 'This is my daughter - vote for her!' "

Happily single, and "way too busy to be anything but at the moment", Anderson is enjoying the career high sweeping over her and says she has no expectations of taking the Gold Logie tonight. "The odds are against me, but I'm just so amazed to be part of this," she said. "It's my first Logies nomination, full stop. I would never have imagined this a couple of years ago. "I hope Ray (Meagher) gets it, but Rebecca (Gibney) is the one to beat."

Hamish & Andy's 3rd Annual Logies Spit Roast
Esther attended the 3rd Annual Logies Spit Roast hosted by Hamish and Andy in South Melbourne yesterday. She was full of laughs as they talked about the gold nominations, would Esther lend Rebecca Gibney a pair of shoes, Esther's teeth and also what she'll be wearing on the big night. The only give away was that it's a long dress. Hmm.. Bet she will look stunning no matter what.

Also, it seems like there was a funny story about Esther's invite to Spit Roast. Since the boys didn't have Esther's phone number, they had to call Channel Seven Sydney and pretended to be Bruce McAvaney. It seems it worked because Esther accepted and attended!

Esther's Logies teething disaster
Esther Anderson will hit the TV Week Logie Awards red carpet with grey teeth, after a teeth whitening session went wrong. The Home and Away actress, nominated for a Gold Logie, followed a whitening session with a glass of red wine yesterday and now has grey teeth.

She is frantically trying to correct the damage before her big red carpet moment on Sunday. "I thought I'd be so prepared for these Logies and so I'm going to get my teeth whitened. So I went to the dentist and...I got the (whitening) solution in the (dental) tray and did it yesterday," she explained to Hughesy and Kate.

"But I forgot (the dentist) said, 'Don't have any red wine or anything for a couple of hours'. And I've had a red wine and now my teeth are grey!" If they don't whiten up in two days she is considering rapper-style diamond grills.

Who's Esther Anderson Logies date?
Esther won't reveal what she's wearing to Sunday night's Logies but she has spilled the beans on her date for the evening her proud father Jack. It's been a fast rise to fame for the gorgeous Geelong actor since landing the role of policewoman Charlie Buckton on long-running soap Home and Away less than two years ago.

I've just added screen caps from last night's episode and it was nice to get a little Charlie/Ruby scene. Hopefully we will get more of those again soon.

Esther gets boost from Cats
Jimmy Bartel and Josh Hunt are rallying support for their favourite Home and Away star and gold logie nominee Esther Anderson. The Cats players came up with the idea to present the petite sceen actress with a club guernsey while Anderson was in town for her dad's birthday this weekend.

"We wanted to show our support," Bartel said. "It would be good to see a local win it," Hunt said. Anderson who will strut her stuff on the next series of Dancing with the Stars, said she was chuffed to have the club behind her. "I was at rehearsals this morning and told the guys I was coming to Geelong and who I was seeing," she said. "They were quite envious".

Anderson's entire family are Cats members and mum Rhonda has a weekly front row seat. The proud parent has been summoning support for her daughter and even convinced Gary Ablett to come on board. "He walked by our Parkington St store and I yelled out 'Gary, would you voting for Esther?".

Hunt said Ablett has been spreading the world at Skilled stadium where Anderson used to watch reserves games so she would be assured a front row possie for the seniors match. Anderson thanked the club and her home town for getting behind her in what she described as the most exciting time in her career.

"I'm not comparing myself to the Cats but I'm getting a small feeling of what it's like to have a whole town behind you," she said. "The support, especially from Geelong, has been incredible, it's amazing." While she is based in Summer Bay for work, Anderson returns to Geelong each month. "It's a time of relaxtion, I stay at home and chill out, read the newspaper and we have a family barbecue," she said. "It's like a holiday retreat."

Esther Anderson's long march with Dad for Anzac Day
HOME and Away star Esther Anderson has paid tribute to her family's war-service history by marching in an Anzac Day parade yesterday. The actress marched in Melbourne with her father Jack, who served with the RAAF in New Guinea during World War II.

She proudly wore the medals of her uncle Tom - one of the Rats of Tobruk. Her sister Lara, who marched with them, wore their aunty Anne's service medals. "It was really, really special," Anderson told Confidential. "My sister Lara [marched] last year for the first time. I was quite envious that I could not join her, so this year I made sure I [was] here."

The gold Logie nominee said it was wonderful to have shared the emotional and proud march with her father, who turned 85 on Saturday. "It was really really nice to share that with him," she said. "It was so worth it and so special to be able to do it. Lara and I were both really, really, proud to be there. Being there with him we were all a little bit teary. Dad and my uncle Keith were telling stories the whole way." Anderson then joined her family at their local RSL club in Melbourne, where they shared lunch with members of the 2/24th Battalion.

Logies glamour girls frock up
Rebecca Gibney, the 45-year-old Packed to the Rafters star says a win would be wonderful for her personally, but would also be a positive for other middle-aged women.

"It would be so thrilling to get another one because I've been around for so long, but it's also a goal for middle-aged women if I get one," she says. "You're still visible and vital." Gibney joined Home and Away beauty and fellow nominee Esther Anderson for an exclusive shoot with the Sunday Herald Sun this week.

Also, this week Esther took a trip back to Geelong and had a photoshoot with her sporting team, 'The Cats'. I've added a photo from the photoshoot and hopefully we will get some more images really soon. It's great to see so many people supporting Esther in the led up for the Gold Logie. Very exciting.
